Jana Din

Jana Din has been a high school child development teacher since 1984, earning distinction as the Galt High School District’s 2011 Teacher of the Year. She is the Chair of the Health Education and Life Skills (HEALS) Department, Director of the Galt Joint Union High School district Careers with Children Program, Co-Founder/Director of the Tao Center for Healing, and a Shamanic Healing Practitioner since 2002.For four years, Jana has provided shamanic healing services for critically ill and dying children in collaboration with former UC Davis Medical Center PICU physician, Dr. David Steinhorn. The shamanic healing support and collaboration between Jana and Dr. Steinhorn was recently featured in a nationally broadcast TV show, Healing Quest, in a segment titled, “Shamans in the ICU.” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnl_K9_KEkA.)  Jana continues to provide volunteer healing services for two UCDMC physicians’ pediatric patients.

 
 

Jana has been interviewed for news articles, television, and radio, and has given presentations on shamanic healing as an adjunct support for pediatric patients for the following:  MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, George Mark Children’s House, a Hospice and Respite Care facility, Sierra (Organ) Donor Services,  Medicine and Shamanism Seminar at the UC Davis Mind Center, PICU/PCICU Peer Support Team Annual Training at UC Davis Children’s Hospital, the 32nd  International Conference for the Study of Shamanism, Healing and Transformation, UCDavis Medical Center Schwartz Center Rounds,  An Introduction to Shamanism and its Integration into Western Medical Practice Workshop, Texas Pedi-Hope 9th Annual Conference-Augmenting Clinical Care Through Indigenous Healing Traditions Pre-Conference Workshop.

Jana’s preparation as a healer includes Reiki, level I and II, Healing Touch, six year shamanic healing apprenticeship with a North American shaman, studies with Native American, and Tibetan shamans, as well as extensive training in Nepal with Nepalese shaman Aama Bombo, one of the International Council of 13 Grandmothers, featured in the book, Grandmothers Council the World, and filmed in the documentary, For the Next Seven Generations. Jana twice hosted Aama at her Tao Center for Healing in Sacramento.

Jana’s personal and professional passion is to be of service in providing compassionate healing support to help patients, families and clients discover meaning in all of life’s challenges.
